Golf fanatics will appreciate the two nationally recognized golf courses located in Princeville. The Princeville Makai Golf Course is a 27-hole, 36-par course that was rated one of the top 25 courses in America in Golf Magazine's 2004-2005 list. The course has hosted tournaments including the World Cup, LPGA Women's Kemper Open and Itoman LPGA World Match Play Championship. The challenging 18 holes of the Prince Course was named #1 in Hawaii by Golf Magazine in 2004, and is considered one of the top courses in the nation.
The Princeville Health Club and Spa is located on the grounds of the Prince Course and offers fitness classes, free weights, conditioning machines, pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, massages, and skin and body treatments. The daily admission fee for use of facilities is $20.
Tennis courts are available to the public at the Princeville Tennis Club on the Princeville Hotel property and the Hanalei Bay Resort Tennis Club. The former location provides hotel guests with a discounted court fee of $12 for 90 minutes, while the general public pays $18 for the same. Private lessons are offered by appointment, and the pro shop also provides racket and ball machine rentals. Hanalei Bay Resort Tennis Club has a reasonable court fee of $6, with scheduled men's and women's clinics and round robins available. Equipment rental is available for court users as well.
Princeville Ranch offers visitors with a variety of popular ways to enjoy the tropical environment and miles of pristine shoreline of Kauai. Princeville Ranch Stables provides several group tour options that lead across the ranch property. Prices run $65 for the scenic ocean bluff ride, $110 for the waterfall picnic ride, and $120 for the cattle drive ride. At Princeville Ranch Adventures, hiking, kayaking, and zipline tours are offered as 4-hour day trip packages that include all equipment and a picnic lunch.
Hikers can also make the 13-mile trek along the Powerline Trail to get a glimpse of the spectacular mountains of Kauai. This trail is longer than most of the island's hiking options and does not offer as much scenery as the others, but worth the time for avid outdoor enthusiasts looking for a challenge.
